Parents and Students: On November 5th in Garden City, MI there will be a local tournament hosted by Olympian Chung Do Kwan. It is a great event for first-timers and kids and we always like to support this event with great attendance.  There are registration forms on the front desk that you can take so make sure you are responsible about turning in your forms. Also note that two tournaments are required in order to obtain the rank of black belt so its a good idea to try competition at a lower or intermediate rank rather than waiting till later in your training career. Hope to see you there!

Join us on Friday, October 14th for the public black belt exam and come watch and cheer on your classmates.  For those in the advanced class, its a good idea to see this prior to your experience and for everyone else, its just a great time to come support the students and the school.  The exam is from 6:00-8:00pm and there is always a potluck party afterwards at the school.  We ask that everyone sign up for a dish to pass at the front desk.  This public test is the second part of an exam process that completes their long road to black belt.  The pretesting process is a long day for each student and we are proud to see each and every one of them finish.

Congratulations to Gabe McDowell, Steven Thompson and Kellie Fairbanks, members from the Midwest Competition Team that brought home 3 bronze medals from the Costa Rica Open Tae Kwon Do Championships this last weekend. We are extremely proud of you!

No classes Labor Day Weekend.  See you on Tuesday at the regularly scheduled class time.

Sunday, September 11 at 1:30 Midwest will be on stage at the Plymouth Fall Festival.  Students are encouraged to participate.  If you do participate make sure you sign up at the front desk and plan to meet at the school at 12:30.  If you are tardy you risk being unable to participate. It’s a great time for all students and instructors to impress the crowd so make plans to be there!

August 25th from 6:00-7:00pm there will be a presentation by Fighting Spirit on Bullying in Our Schools. It’s a free event so make sure you bring a friend! It will be held in the conference room at Midwest.  No children please.  See you there!

Lights! Camera! Action!  Please join us Friday, July 22nd for a radKIDS fundraiser at Midwest Tae Kwon Do. Have your kids bring their sleeping bag and pillow and enjoy Kung Fu Panda with us. It’s a great opportunity for you to enjoy Music in the Park downtown while they enjoy the show! Admission is $3 (children under 2 are free). Baked good and popcorn will be available for purchase. Feel free to drop the kids off and enjoy a nice evening out. Drop-off begins at 6:00pm and pick-up is no later than 9:00pm.  Children under 5 need to be accompanied by an adult during the movie.  Make it a family event for quality time with the kids!  Kids are welcome to bring a friend if they like.  See you there!
